On World Give Day, Convoy of Hope is highlighting the huge impact of giving.
Convoy of Hope team members in Kenya recently held a nutrition camp, where people of all ages received medical care and supplies for a healthy life. More of these events are being established in Kenya as Convoy continues to meet more needs.
Last week, a church in the southern slums of Nairobi held a 3-day nutrition camp. Starting early in the morning, locals lined up to receive checkups and resources from the event. Volunteers took measurements and talked through each person’s overall health.
For children, the team made sure they were meeting healthy numbers for their age. Local doctors took vitals and talked through each person’s health status — directing people to closed booths where they could receive checkups if needed.
Volunteers and team members also met mental health needs. Counselors connected with families and individuals, and Convoy staff said it seemed like many people wanted to talk.
On their way out, attendants received medicine and supplies prescribed by the doctors there, along with a bag of food and cleaning supplies. Just down the road at a local school, children got to participate in educational courses.
Convoy of Hope began by working in communities that needed help, and that has expanded to create an impact around the world. When you give, you get to be a part of that journey. Start today at convoy.org/give.
