Convoy of Hope Responds to Extreme Winter Weather in Texas

USA Reported by Convoy of Hope

February 17, 2021 | 8:30 p.m.

Convoy of Hope is deploying multiple trucks of relief to Texas in response to the subfreezing temperatures sweeping the state. The trucks are full of bottled water and cleaning supplies, which local partners will distribute to those in need.

At least 16 people are reported dead and 4 million are without power in Texas as a result of ongoing frigid temperatures.

Due to the freezing temperatures that are out of the ordinary in Texas, thousands are without water as pipes have frozen or burst. Cuts in power from freezing natural gas pipelines have disrupted the water supply to several areas. The water supply for entire towns is shut off completely after losing power at their water treatment plants. When these areas are restored, a boil order will be in effect for several days before the water from their faucets will be safe to drink.
