Three Rivers & Union City Receive Essential Relief & Supplies

Convoy of Hope is delivering relief and supplies to two Michigan communities impacted by the powerful storms of Friday, March 6.

On Sunday, March 8, Convoy of Hope provided truckloads of resources in Three Rivers, Michigan, for walk-up and mobile distribution to families who needed it. Hygiene items, food, water, tarps, and totes were brought directly to households in affected neighborhoods. The distribution also included essential clean-up supplies, such as trash bags and rakes, to begin the process of restoring people’s yards and homes.

Today, Convoy of Hope is serving Union City, Michigan, in the same way, reaching hundreds of families with recovery supplies and support.

In addition to help from community partners, over 50 local volunteers complemented these efforts. Some areas still remain without power, but receiving these comforts brings dignity and togetherness to those whose lives were turned upside down by the intensity of the unexpected storms.

Convoy of Hope has distributed 32,000 pounds of product to affected Michigan residents, and over 1,000 individuals are receiving necessary relief at a time when it is most crucial.

Convoy of Hope is still on the ground, aiding in the aftermath of the storm.

Storms leave a path of destruction as response efforts begin and relief teams mobilize

On March 6, around 4 PM, a deadly tornado ripped through southern Michigan, uprooting trees, destroying homes, and sending debris flying. Four people have lost their lives, and 12 others have been injured. As local government officials respond, Convoy of Hope is on the way.

Communities face a range of dangers after a tornado passes. Downed power lines can remain energized, debris fields often cause serious injuries, and buildings left standing may be structurally unstable. In some areas, flooding, contaminated water, and blocked roads can further complicate rescue efforts, making the aftermath of a tornado extremely hazardous.

Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan, activated the state’s Emergency Operations Center on Friday “to coordinate an all-hands-on-deck response to severe weather,” she said in a statement.

Convoy of Hope is on the way with essential relief supplies to bring help to those who need it most. As conditions evolve, Convoy continues to coordinate additional distributions to support communities impacted by the storm.
