In Puerto Rico, hundreds of thousands of people are facing a difficulty many cannot imagine – no water.
In the middle of a deepening water crisis, the region’s extreme heat has only made the situation more severe. July was the driest month the capital city of San Juan has seen in more than 120 years. According to BBC News, 68% of the island is battling drought conditions.
Authorities are shutting off families’ water access for 48-hour stretches, while leaving water on in another area. Then the groups switch.
Convoy of Hope is sending bottled water from our Regional Distribution Center West in Sacramento to help alleviate families’ burdens in this critical time.
