Convoy Aids Michigan and Wisconsin Flooding Survivors

It began as heavy rainfall. On April 20, widespread flooding put 30 Michigan counties under a state of emergency. Along with the severe storm system, the area experienced rapid snowmelt. Rivers, lakes, and reservoirs overflowed, and some homes have been damaged by large chunks of moving ice.
The muddy floodwaters filled neighborhoods, destroying homes and belongings, and displaced thousands of Michigan residents. Thousands more have been left in their homes without power, waiting for the waters to slowly recede. When the waters do subside, destruction and debris will be left behind.
Eastern Wisconsin also faced severe rains, with floodwaters overflowing rivers and forcing several schools to cancel classes. Some communities are under emergency evacuation orders.

For both states, this degree of flooding is historic.
