From small-town Pennsylvania to New York City to Sacramento, Convoy of Hope serves vulnerable U.S. communities and brings hope to those in need. Convoyβs Community Events, Rural Initiatives, Field Teams, and Community Engagement Distributions offer different avenues of care.
Community Engagement Distributions
Through Community Engagement Distributions, Convoy invests in and trains key staff and volunteers from hundreds of churches nationwide β from rural to urban to suburban β helping them to more effectively engage with and care for their communities.
βThe distribution was awesome!β said one volunteer from Faith Assembly of God in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania. βWe love working with Convoy. The distributions since COVID have saved ourΒ church. Weβre now seeing the product meet needs and build bridges between churches and nonprofits in our community. Thank you!β
Just this year, Convoy has distributed more than 8.3 million pounds of product through Community Engagement Distributions alone.
Community Events
Convoy of Hope partners with local churches and organizations in cities all over the U.S. to host Community Events, where people in need can come to get groceries, health services, haircuts, family portraits, shoes, job application help, and local resource information β all at no charge to our guests.
At a recent event in Sacramento, a young girl came to the event wearing her only pair of shoes β large menβs shoes with the laces wrapped around her calves to keep them on. At the event, she received a brand new pair of kids shoes.
At a Convoy Community Event, a family receives their first portrait together, a woman gets a free haircut that makes her feel confident, and a veteran connects with resources in the community. Through every interaction, a community comes together to care for each other. Smiling people leave Community Events with arms full of groceries and resources.
Rural Initiatives
The same poverty and hunger people face in the biggest cities in the United States also affect people in the nationβs smallest towns. Thatβs why Convoy of Hope helps rural communities discover and implement effective solutions to the issues they face.
As just one example, Convoyβs Childrenβs Summer Feeding program distributed 20,000 bags of groceries in 16 communities in Missouri this summer.
One pastor shared with Convoy, βParents tell us repeatedly how the summer feeding program is helping them feed their kids.β
Convoy is in the business of helping churches and organizations do more in their communities.
Field Teams
Recently, a Field Team from Vineyard Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, served at a church in Philippi, West Virginia. While the team was there, they worked on projects for a community of tiny homes built for youth aging out of the foster care system.
βWe have returned home with more drive to show compassion in our community than ever,β said Kim Richardson, the womenβs ministry and music director at Vineyard Church. βI am forever grateful and look forward to many more opportunities with Convoy of Hope!β
Whether itβs urban Sacramento or rural West Virginia, Convoy of Hope is working to help communities in the United States thrive.
