In rural Nicaragua, Nohemi is propelling her family towards a brighter future with her new career path — raising and selling pigs.
“Together we have built a beautiful family,” Nohemi said of her husband Ronald and their 9-year-old son. “We are hardworking.”
They live near 12 of their relatives, sharing life’s challenges together. They recently carried the weight of Nohemi’s father’s death.
“His absence changed our lives,” Nohemi said. “He was the main support for our family.”
Before Convoy of Hope’s Agriculture program brought training to her region, Nohemi knew she was ready to step in a new direction.
“I had the desire to grow and improve, but I had limited access to opportunities,” she said.
Through Convoy’s Agriculture program, Nohemi received the knowledge and resources she needed to begin her own small pig farm, and expand it to raise chickens and geese, too. Now sustaining the farm through her own efforts, Nohemi is feeling a stronger sense of purpose — and seeing success.
“The support from Convoy of Hope strengthened my pig farming initiative,” said Nohemi. “This opportunity has given me hope that I can improve my family’s quality of life.”
“Today, I feel very happy and motivated.”
