Ingris’ Pregnancy Journey: Encouragement Through Mothers’ Clubs

Honduras Reported by Convoy of Hope

“My baby is about to turn 1 month old.”

There were times when Ingris didn’t know if she would be able to say those words; her pregnancy was difficult.

This wasn’t her first child, as Ingris also has a 4-year-old daughter. But every pregnancy is different — especially when health issues and life circumstances change. During this pregnancy, Ingris was diagnosed with a harmful virus that hospitalized her for three days. As she counted down the weeks until her son would be born, she didn’t know what would happen.

Through Convoy of Hope’s Women’s Empowerment program, Ingris found genuine connections by joining a local Mothers’ Club in Honduras. There, Ingris learned practical information that helped ground her emotions, giving her the tools she needed to navigate her journey with confidence instead of uncertainty.

“Before, I only focused on taking care of the house, and now I have new friendships where we can share experiences about pregnancy,” Ingris said. “I’ve learned what to eat during pregnancy, how to properly position my baby for breastfeeding, about self-esteem, and how to become a better mother. I’ve learned many things I didn’t know when my daughter was born. Now that I’m in the program, I feel more prepared.”

The weeks went by, and then the day came when Ingris delivered her son. He was sick for his first five days, requiring him to stay at the hospital.

Finally, Ingris received the phone call she had been praying for: “The best thing that happened to me was when the hospital called to tell me I could finally take my baby home. Seeing him every day and knowing that he’s getting better makes me feel grateful and happy.”

The practical education of Women’s Empowerment is giving women and mothers around the world renewed confidence to build stronger futures for their families — with uplifting support at every step.
