Convoy Mobilizes Response to Midwest Tornado Emergency

June 12, 2026 | 12:03 p.m.
Convoy of Hope is sending relief supplies to Illinois after widespread storms and tornadoes swept through the region on June 11.
Entire homes collapsed; others have extensive damage. One man had to be rescued from beneath the rubble. Neighborhoods are littered with debris and fallen trees. Power outages have impacted hundreds of thousands of residents.
After an afternoon of severe thunderstorms, a confirmed large tornado touched down in Streator, Illinois, around 5:50 p.m. Another tornado landed near Dwight, Illinois, around 6:15 p.m. At least 10 tornado sightings were reported in several surrounding towns.
The National Weather Service issued a rare tornado emergency, a level above a tornado warning.
In the aftermath, families are braving a difficult recovery journey. Many must travel through unsafe conditions, including downed power lines, to receive help. Several buildings, including the Streator City Hall, have opened as shelters for the displaced families.
Convoy of Hope will continue to serve the storm’s survivors. Local families are receiving critical supplies to help meet their immediate needs — as well as the encouragement that friends across the country are ready to help.
