Convoy of Hope is working in Afghanistan, distributing urgently needed food kits to devastated families in the wake of the 6.0 earthquake that struck the Kundar province late Sunday night. Each kit contains shelf-stable food to sustain families for up to a month — a lifeline amid unimaginable loss.
The earthquake has claimed more than 2,200 lives, and at least 3,600 people are injured. Many survivors have endured years of hardship already — from powerful earthquakes in 2022 and 2023 to deadly floods in 2024. They are weary, grieving, and in need of help.
The quake’s epicenter fell between Kabul and the Pakistan border, a region already home to many displaced and vulnerable families. For them, each meal is not just about surviving: it’s about hope.

Convoy of Hope is responding in eastern Afghanistan, where a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the province of Kunar just before midnight Sunday night. Entire villages have collapsed into rubble, killing over 800 people and injuring more than 2,500. Some described seeing homes collapse before their eyes. Desperate people clawed through rubble in the dark, looking for loved ones buried under their homes.
“We need help here,” one villager told the Associated Press. “We need people to come here and join us.”
The need is urgent. Convoy of Hope is working to ensure families have what they need for food and shelter in the coming harrowing days.
