Over 1,500 attendees gathered at Convoy of Hope’s Global Headquarters & Training Center on March 12 to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The sold-out event focused on the challenges faced by women and girls around the world, including gender inequality, hunger, poverty, and lack of opportunities. Attendees learned how Convoy’s Women’s Empowerment program addresses those challenges through one of the most powerful forces in a community, the women themselves.
This year’s distinguished guest was Grammy award-winning vocalist Lauren Daigle, who treated the audience to both an interview and an incredible performance.
In addition to enjoying a small plate social, photo booths, and shopping, attendees packed 8,700 feminine hygiene kits and experienced an immersive walk-through exhibit of the struggles and triumphs of women and girls in Convoy’s programs.
Convoy teams from across the globe also celebrated International Women’s Day. In Australia, events were held in both Sydney and Darwin. During those events, a new partnership was launched supporting the Dress Her With Dignity project which provides clothing to women in local hospitals who have experienced domestic abuse.
In Moldova, Slovakia, and Spain, celebrations included food, fellowship, and inspirational messages. Some women took home flowers, and one location even offered pampering with hair, nails, and makeup services. Those gathered also learned how Convoy of Hope is empowering women across Europe.
