Hormel Foods and SKIPPY® Peanut Butter Help Feed Kids

El Salvador Reported by Convoy of Hope

Convoy of Hope is so grateful for our ongoing partnership with Hormel Foods and SKIPPY® peanut butter and their help providing peanut butter for children in El Salvador.

Since 2019, Hormel Foods has donated over 500,000 pounds of peanut butter to Convoy’s programming, with a portion of that supporting more than 171 program centers and feeding thousands of students in El Salvador.

“The local team reports that the children eagerly enjoy the peanut butter with bread and in culturally familiar foods such as peanut horchata, making it a highly accepted and effective addition to the feeding programs,” says Convoy nutritionist Melanie Morgan.

There are additional benefits to peanut butter in the program, Morgan adds.

“In communities where access to nutrient-dense foods can be limited, it serves as a practical and versatile way to strengthen the nutritional quality of meals,” she says. “The El Salvador team also highlighted its ease of preparation and adaptability within local menus, making it ideal for large-scale child feeding programs.”

Families and local partners continue to express gratitude for Hormel’s support in feeding their children. And as they enjoy meals supported by Hormel Foods, students are able to engage in school with full bellies and nurtured minds, making way for a brighter future.

Thank you to our partners Hormel Foods and SKIPPY® peanut butter for fueling the next generation through your generosity.
