Disaster relief is on the way after severe storm damage across Kankakee County, Illinois, and Lake Village, Indiana

Overnight on Tuesday, March 10, a severe weather system left a path of destruction across the Midwest. Tornadoes touched down in multiple regions, including Kankakee County in Illinois and the area surrounding Lake Village in Indiana. In Lake Village, at least two people were killed.

Homes were demolished, roofs ripped from buildings, and trees uprooted from the ground. Softball-sized hail struck some areas in Indiana on top of the rubble and exposed infrastructure. The extensive debris and damage trapped people in their homes. Knocked-down utility poles were rendered useless, leaving communities with no power.

As of early this morning, March 11, Convoy of Hope is on the move. Convoy is transporting crucial supplies to these affected communities, including tarps, totes, hygiene items, and fresh water. Our team is also providing illumination kits containing flashlights, lanterns, and batteries to the communities lacking electricity.

In the aftermath of devastation, hope is on the way.
