On July 27, 2025, torrential rainstorms swept through Suceava County, Romania, triggering powerful flash flooding in the communes of Ostra, Stulpicani, and Vadu Negrilesei. Bridges collapsed, roads disappeared under rushing water, and entire villages were suddenly cut off from the outside world.

Thousands of people were left temporarily displaced, uncertain of what would come next. For more than 100 families, the devastation was complete — their homes destroyed beyond repair.

The flooding came after months of above-average rainfall saturated the land and left it vulnerable. Now, fields of crops lie ruined, public utilities are damaged, and vital jobs have been lost with the closure of the Praid salt mine.

In the midst of this hardship, Convoy of Hope is working to bring relief through trusted local partners. Teams are reaching people in need with emergency food, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies — meeting families where they are with practical help and compassion.
