San Francisco 49ers Join Convoy of Hope for the Holidays

USA Reported by Convoy of Hope

Happiness was undeniable among more than 1,200 faces at Levi’s Stadium Monday night when Convoy of Hope partnered with the San Francisco 49ers. The goal of the event? To bring hope to people in the Bay Area — during the holidays — when families need it the most.

Children joyfully moved from area to area gripping onto their newest prized possessions — autographed footballs and shirts, new toys, winter gear and more. Parents enjoyed a relaxing night where they didn’t have to worry about the basic necessities they need to survive. They got to spend time as a family, meeting 49ers players and taking photos, receiving free groceries and coupons for holiday turkeys.

Twin sisters we met were literally jumping with excitement. When asked about their favorite part, one sister said, “The players signed this football! And everything here is free!” Their mother smiled thankfully as she watched her girls go through all of their new things.

Trish, a volunteer working in the winter accessories area, explained the importance of an event like this.

“We are able to impact so many in a short amount of time,” she said. “It’s important that people know they can get taken care of here.”

The Galvan Family also attended the event with their two sons and three nephews and felt just that. The boys were overjoyed to receive new haircuts, shoes, winter gloves and toys for the holidays. As they left the event, I asked how they were feeling and mom and dad simultaneously answered with a simple, but powerful response — “happy.”

Thank you to the San Francisco 49ers for helping us spread kindness that will carry on with these families for years to come.
