How Children’s Feeding Helps Viraj Pursue His Dreams

Sri Lanka Reported by Convoy of Hope

Thirteen-year-old Viraj is intelligent, selfless, and inventive. He loves to read, innovate solutions to difficult problems, and learn about science.

But before joining Convoy of Hope’s Children’s Feeding program in Sri Lanka, Viraj had to put his dreams on the backburner. Survival was priority one, and that alone took up most of his time.

“It was hard not to be able to go to school because of corona. We also didn’t have enough food to eat,” Viraj said. “I was worried and embarrassed by this situation.”

However, when Viraj joined the Children’s Feeding program, his priorities shifted. Now, he can focus on learning, reading, and pursuing his dream of going to medical school.

“I am very satisfied with the food and classes available through the center,” Viraj said. “There is no shortage. The food given at the center is the most delicious food and I really like it.”

Viraj never turns down an opportunity to help others. Now, with the strength that he gets from regular, nutritious meals at Convoy’s program center, he is even more well-equipped to assist those around him.

“If I meet someone who is in a similar situation as me, I will tell him not to worry,” he said. “I will try my best to help.”

Thanks to your support, Viraj has incredible new opportunities that will benefit him, his family, and his community for years to come.
