Seven-year-old Kassa, like most children her age, enjoys life’s simplicities: playing with friends and going to school. Unfortunately, life isn’t so simple for Kassa and her family.
Her father, previously employed, now has no job, and her mother is selling ceremonial grass to help support the three of them. With no secure income, meals are not guaranteed.
But that reality has changed for Kassa. Now that Convoy of Hope’s Children’s Feeding program has partnered with her primary school in Ethiopia, she is able to enjoy lunch every day that she’s there.
The program serves a variety of filling foods like injera stew with shiro, pasta, and sandwiches. “My favorite is when pasta is prepared with tomato sauce and with chili powder,” Kassa said. “It makes me happy. Especially Sunday night I get excited knowing that Monday we will be given the delicious food.”
With proper nutrition, Kassa is not just feeling the difference but seeing it, too. “Now I have a good appetite and my health status is also wonderful,” she said.
And she’s not just thinking about the present, but planning for her future as well. “I want to be a medical doctor, and at church I want to be a worship leader,” she said. “I am very happy to be part of this feeding program. I thank the people of Convoy who made this feeding program possible. ”
Thanks to supporters like you, children like Kassa are given the opportunity to make the most of their lives, one meal at a time.
