When Darline finishes her schooling in just a few years, she is determined to change the world.
But first, she needs the energy to learn — and the nutrition to get through each day.
Living in Haiti with her siblings and her mother, some days were harder than others, especially with her mother facing significant health challenges. “When my mother is exhausted, she cannot get up to cook for us in the morning,” Darline said. On those days, they would leave for school without nourishment.
With the introduction of Convoy of Hope’s Children’s Feeding program at Darline’s school, times are changing.
“It saves many students from hunger,” Darline said. Now, she learns in class with the reassurance that there will be warm, nutritious food waiting for her every school day.
That stability reaches her family at home.
“I tell my mother that she can rest because we will find food at school. Indeed, we do not stay hungry at school. We find the food of Convoy of Hope.”
Because of these consistent meals, Darline has the energy and excitement to dream about her future. And all her plans involve helping others.
“I would like to become a lawyer to help people in danger… or a doctor, to help my family and other sick people. Helping homeless children is another one of my goals when I grow up,” she said. “Given that there are too many starving children who beg in the street, I’d want to build them an orphanage.”
Today, Darline’s future — and her future impact — feels limitless.
When you support a child with consistent access to nutrition, you help bring security to their family, creating space for them to grow and plan for the future. And that child — like Darline — just might go on to change the world for the better.
