Convoy of Hope’s Women’s Empowerment program in Ethiopia is providing the tools and resources that women need to provide for their families.

Our Women’s Empowerment Program in Ethiopia is providing 2,000 women in this Sub-Saharan African country theoretical and practical training, as well as start up capital, to engage in small businesses. This woman started a restaurant just three months ago serving coffee, tea and warm meals to patrons. Her business is thriving.

This young boy’s mother recently graduated the program and makes the wax candles in her home. She’s now making enough money to feed him and his siblings

Women in the program have learned to make homemade candles (twaf) to sell on the streets for people to use for candles in church. They are made of beeswax and are easy for the women to make at home

Our Agricultural Initiative is also thriving in Ethiopia. At Efoyta Primary School in Addis Ababa where we are feeding 400 children, Convoy of Hope helped school officials plant a garden to help feed the children during lunch

Five-year-old, Biniam, was just enrolled in our feeding initiative at Birhan Ber Kindergarten in Addis Ababa this week. He’ll now get a fresh meal every day at school

We’ve been feeding children at Efoyta Primary School for almost a year. School directors say since our feeding initiative has been in place, there has been a significant change in the health and learning capabilities of the students

Desalegne has been instrumental in growing rows of fresh vegetable in the garden to supplement our feeding program

Assefu was hired by women who graduated our program and have started what is now a successful restaurant in Addis Ababa. Because of their success in the restaurant business, they’ve been able to provide employment opportunities for other women like Assefu, who are living in poverty.

Convoy of Hope helped establish a production facility in Addis Ababa where food is mass-produced and then sent out to women who own their own restaurants
