‘I appreciate you’: Subira’s Message to You

Ethiopia Reported by Convoy of Hope

At 5 years old, Subira has already experienced hardship. But as a participant in Convoy of Hope’s Children’s Feeding program in Ethiopia, she has a reliable source of nutritious food to keep her full and healthy.

Subira lives in a small home with her parents and two siblings. She lost her twin brother, but she hasn’t let that tragedy keep her from being kind and hopeful. Even at her young age, Subira sees her parents struggling to provide for her family and knows that she can work hard to achieve a better future.

“My parents — especially my mother — don’t get enough money. She can’t find a better house for us,” she said. “When I go home, I can’t play because our house is very small. Our environment is also not clean.”

However, Subira has a plan to change the trajectory of the next generation. She excels at math and loves to draw. The food that she receives at school through Convoy of Hope keeps her strong and ensures that she can focus on learning and growing.

“I like all the food Convoy is providing for us,” she said. “It is all tasty. It makes me strong!”

With a good education, a full stomach, and hope for the future, Subira is determined to reach her full potential and provide for those around her.

Subira wanted the following message to reach the people who have contributed to giving her a better life: “I appreciate you. Thank you for the food you are providing.”

Because of your support, children like Subira can stay full, hopeful, and inspired to do great things. To contribute to Convoy of Hope as we work to change lives around the world, click here.
