Hurricane Matthew Response Underway

Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Services team is responding to Hurricane Matthew as it makes landfall in Haiti, where Convoy has worked since 2007 feeding children. As the Category 4 storm hits the western side of the country, Convoy of Hope has staff and partners on the ground where supplies have been pre-positioned across the country.

“As one of our program countries, the safety of the children and families we serve is of utmost importance,” says Hal Donaldson, president of Convoy of Hope. “Pre-positioning emergency relief supplies will enable us to begin distributions as soon as the storm passes.”

According to Donaldson, a container of supplies is en route to Haiti from Convoy of Hope’s warehouse in Springfield, MO.

“We are thankful for our faithful friends who support our work and enable us to respond swiftly and effectively,” Donaldson adds. “We will continue to work with our partners to identify the areas of greatest need moving forward.”

Convoy’s Disaster Services team is monitoring Hurricane Matthew as it moves toward Cuba and the United States.
