Hurricane Lowell Leaves Dangerous Conditions Across Hawaii as Convoy of Hope Responds

Catastrophic flooding leaves hundreds dead and thousands missing, including foreign tourists and Americans

SPRINGFIELD, MO (September 8, 2026) — Convoy of Hope is responding as Hurricane Lowell has brought dangerous flooding, damage, debris and widespread power outages to Kauai County, Hawaii, leaving communities facing difficult conditions in the storm’s aftermath. Convoy of Hope is responding with urgent relief supplies for communities in need.

Some areas have experienced wind gusts nearing 80 miles per hour as the hurricane moved through the region. Flooding and debris have created additional challenges for residents as communities begin assessing damage and recovering from the storm.

The immediate danger is passing, but the effects of Hurricane Lowell remain. Flooded areas, damaged property, debris and power outages are disrupting daily life for families across Kauai County.

Convoy of Hope is delivering essential relief supplies to help meet the most urgent needs of affected communities. As families begin the difficult process of cleaning up and rebuilding, practical resources can provide critical support and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Hurricane Lowell marks Convoy of Hope’s third disaster response in Hawaii this year. Earlier this year, Convoy provided relief following severe flooding on Oahu in March and Tropical Storm Lala on the Big Island in August.
