Convoy of Hope Responds to Flooding in Texas

Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Services team is responding after severe storms pummeled areas in Texas, causing historic flooding. Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster across 31 counties and more rain is expected this weekend.

“A truckload of supplies — including drinking water, paper towels, trash bags, bleach, cleaners and disaster relief kits  —  is headed to Houston and surrounding communities and will be distributed to homeowners affected by the storms,” says Stacy Lamb, U.S. response director for Disaster Services. “We’ll deploy our debris removal teams to help families after the rains stop and the waters recede.”

According to Lamb, the Disaster Services team has been in contact with several partners in the affected areas, as well as officials from the Texas Department of Emergency Management and the Texas Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters.

“In partnership with our great volunteers, our presence in communities suffering from disasters helps families get back on their feet and start the healing process,” adds Lamb. “We can’t do what we do without our partners and volunteers.”
