Convoy of Hope Responds to Flooding Across West Virginia

SPRINGFIELD, MO (July 22, 2026) – Convoy of Hope is providing essential relief supplies across West Virginia after torrential rainfall flooded communities, forced water rescues, damaged homes and businesses and prompted a state of emergency for all 55 counties.

Seven inches of rain fell in parts of the state, causing rivers and creeks to rapidly rise, washing out roads and bridges and leaving neighborhoods underwater. Emergency crews have conducted numerous water rescues as floodwaters covered roads and cut off access to communities. The West Virginia National Guard has already deployed hundreds of service members to assist in response efforts.

“So much rain fell in such a short time that the area couldn’t handle it,” said Convoy of Hope Vice President of Public Engagement Ethan Forhetz. “It overwhelmed waterways and caused very dangerous situations for the people of West Virginia. Convoy immediately began working with people on the ground to get essential relief supplies to families affected by the flooding.” 

Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Relief team is sending immediate relief from its Regional Distribution Center in Atlanta. Convoy is delivering food, bottled water, flood buckets full of cleaning supplies and hygiene kits to families impacted by the flooding. The organization is working with local partners to ensure relief supplies reach affected communities quickly.

Convoy of Hope will continue to meet the evolving needs of the affected communities in West Virginia and remains committed to delivering practical relief and hope throughout the recovery process. 

This is disaster number 58 that Convoy of Hope has responded to already this year in the U.S. and around the world.
