Convoy of Hope Navigates a Spring of Cascading Crises in Michigan

SPRINGFIELD, MO (May 15, 2026) — After a series of severe weather events and infrastructure challenges impacted communities across Michigan this spring, Convoy of Hope has mobilized to provide critical resources and support to families facing difficult circumstances.

From tornado damage in southern Michigan to historic flooding and a major water crisis in the Detroit metro area, communities across the state have faced multiple challenges in recent months. Convoy of Hope Disaster Relief teams have worked alongside local churches, volunteers and community partners to deliver needed supplies and bring help and hope to affected residents.

“Michigan has faced a number of challenges over the past few months, but through every crisis, communities have come together to help their neighbors,” said Ethan Forhetz, Vice President of Public Engagement for Convoy of Hope. “Convoy of Hope’s mission is to stand alongside people in their greatest moments of need and provide the resources and encouragement they need to begin recovering.”

Following a tornado that impacted southern Michigan in March, Convoy of Hope delivered essential supplies, including tarps, totes and hygiene items, to families working to recover from storm damage. Teams also partnered with local volunteers to distribute resources directly into affected neighborhoods.

As flooding impacted communities throughout the state in April, Convoy of Hope expanded its response by providing additional relief supplies, including flood cleanup kits, water and hygiene items. These resources helped families begin the process of cleaning up and rebuilding after significant property damage.

In May, Convoy of Hope responded again after a major water main break left thousands of residents in Oakland County without reliable access to safe water. Convoy delivered bottled water to local distribution sites while communities worked to restore normal water service.

Through the generosity of donors and the strength of local partnerships, Convoy of Hope continues supporting Michigan communities as recovery efforts move forward.
