Convoy of Hope Launches Summer Feeding Initiative to Help Children Facing Hunger When School Ends

SPRINGFIELD, MO (June 17, 2026) — When the school year ends, many children lose access to the meals they depend on every day. Through its Summer Feeding Initiative, Convoy of Hope is helping families bridge the gap by providing nutritious food and support to children and communities across the United States.

For millions of children, school meals provide a consistent source of nutrition throughout the academic year. When summer break begins, many families face increased pressure as they work to provide additional meals while navigating rising costs and financial challenges.

Convoy of Hope is partnering with local churches, schools and community organizations to provide weekly groceries and food resources to families during the summer months. Through a growing network of distribution partners, Convoy is helping ensure children have access to the nutrition they need when school is out.

In 2025, Convoy of Hope’s Summer Feeding Initiative partnered with 219 organizations across seven states to serve more than 152,000 children. In 2026, the program is expanding to reach even more families through additional distribution partners and regional hubs.

Each week, Convoy of Hope delivers food supplies to local partners, who distribute groceries directly to families in their communities. These resources include shelf-stable food, fresh produce, protein items and other essential groceries designed to support children throughout the summer.

For local organizations, the partnership provides the resources needed to serve families they may not otherwise be able to reach.

“We’re a really small church; we would never be able to do any of these things without the support and supplies we get from Convoy,” said a local program coordinator. “Now, children are receiving a bag of food each week filled with the nutrition they need. All it takes is someone reaching out in kindness and saying, ‘We see you, and we want to be there for you.’”

Through the Summer Feeding Initiative, Convoy of Hope continues its commitment to helping children and families experience hope during seasons of need.
