Convoy of Hope Highlights the Life-Changing Impact of Clean Water Access on World Water Day

SPRINGFIELD, MO (March 17, 2026) — This World Water Day, Convoy of Hope is highlighting the life-changing impact of clean water access and hygiene initiatives around the world. For millions of people, access to safe water remains a daily challenge that affects health, dignity and opportunities for a better future.

In the countryside of Sredets, Bulgaria, brothers Todor and Stefan grew up without electricity or running water in their home. While the community had access to a municipal water system, many residents still lacked reliable access to clean water and depended on nearby natural springs.

Through a partnership with a local church, Convoy of Hope helped provide a community bathhouse where families could access clean water and proper hygiene resources. For Todor and Stefan, the facility provided a warm shower which was something they had never experienced before. Todor described the moment as a blessing, sharing that the experience brought a renewed sense of dignity and removed feelings of shame and hardship.

Around the world, Convoy of Hope continues working to provide clean water solutions and hygiene resources to communities in need. Through strategic programs, including Children’s Feeding initiatives and specialized Field Teams, Convoy helps communities gain access to resources that promote health, dignity and long-term transformation.

“Stories from the field like that of these two brothers compel us to continue developing Convoy of Hope’s clean water capabilities,” said Dr. Heath Adamson, Executive Vice President of International Program for Convoy of Hope. “By building a community bathhouse in Sredets, Bulgaria, Convoy of Hope was able to provide a basic necessity that many of us take for granted.”

Access to clean water remains one of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Convoy of Hope continues to serve vulnerable communities by bringing practical solutions and hope to people who need it most.
