Friend of Convoy of Hope, Bradley Pinion, has been named the San Francisco 49ers nominee for the 2017 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Along with the award nomination, United Way Worldwide, the National Football League Foundation and Nationwide are donating $50,000 to the charity of choice for each team’s nominee.
“It’s truly an honor to be the 49ers Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee,” says Pinion. “Since entering the NFL in 2015, I felt it was my responsibility to use this God-given platform to give of my time and resources to events and causes throughout the Bay Area and the Carolinas. I look forward to continuing these efforts throughout my career and will use this nomination as motivation to live up to what this prestigious award is all about.”
As part of the award celebration, each nominee is participating in a social media charity challenge. The nominee whose competition hashtag is used the most will receive an extra $25,000 for their charity. “We are incredibly thankful for Bradley’s support,” says Hal Donaldson, president of Convoy of Hope. “From advocating for our disaster relief work to volunteering at our Community Events, Bradley truly has a heart to help people in need.”
Pinion recently represented Convoy of Hope on his cleats in celebration of the My Cause, My Cleats weekend. He will also serve Bay Area Guests of Honor this Tuesday at Convoy’s Community Event with the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
