One Day to Empower Women: Business Resources

Convoy of Hope’s One Day to Empower Women is a simple way for you to transform the lives of women and girls. This powerful campaign levels the playing field by asking equal sacrifice, not equal giving.

It demonstrates that you and your business are not content with simply feeling compassionate — you are committed to live a life of kindness and generosity to help others.

Why Participate?

Three big reasons to participate.

1. Businesses that support social causes strengthen their reputation, increase employee morale, and improve stakeholder loyalty.

2. Workplace giving campaigns have shown significant success in impacting the lives of the people they employ as well as the people Convoy of Hope serves.

3. Only 8% of Convoy’s budget goes to administration and overhead. That means that 92 cents out of every dollar given to Convoy goes directly to program work.

Here is an example of what you could post on your social media.

Something exciting is coming … I am excited to participate in a life-changing opportunity next week that impacts women and girls around the world. Here are some reasons I’m doing it:

  • When a woman is successful, it doesn’t only benefit her — it changes the entire community.
  • Small acts can restore dignity to a woman who has been devalued in her society.
  • Women everywhere deserve opportunities to succeed.
  • One day can transform a woman’s every day.

Want to be a part of this, too? Stay tuned!

One Day to Empower Women helps us change lives for generations to come — women like Cristina.

She lost her job about the same time she discovered she was pregnant. Convoy of Hope gave her a way to thrive through Mother’s Clubs, where moms learn skills —  from nutrition and health to small-scale business practices — so they can have a better future. She is one of 500 women who have graduated from Mother’s Club in El Salvador.

Week 3 Social Media Content

Create a video of yourself or take your picture wearing the sticker to add to your post.

#didyouknow: It’s estimated that 388 million women and girls live in extreme poverty globally. In fact, 83% of women and girls in sub-saharan Africa, Central and Southern Asia are living in extreme poverty.

Like you, @convoyofhope finds this unacceptable — it believes every life has value. Because of that, Convoy is determined to bring help and hope to the hurting.

By participating in Convoy of Hope’s One Day to Empower Women campaign, you are demonstrating to your community that you and your organization are not content with simply feeling compassionate — you are committed to live a life of #kindness and #generosity to help others.

You can participate in transforming the lives of women and girls by giving one day of your annual wage at convoy.org/oneday-women/.

As this One Day to Empower Women campaign ends, I’m taking with me (insert lessons they learned). Here are some reasons it’s worth it to participate:

  1. It’s easy to get involved — Calculate how much you make each work day, and set that amount as your One Day to Empower Women giving goal. Then give your gift. Simple!
  2. It’s about equal sacrifice, not equal giving — What does that mean? No matter what you make, you play a significant role in transforming women’s lives. Everyone can do something!
  3. It’s effective — By giving one day’s wage, you provide women with the chance to break the cycles of poverty that have gripped their communities for generations.

Follow @convoyofhope for more about their Women’s Empowerment program and start a campaign today at convoy.org/oneday-women/.
