OROVILLE, CA — Nearly 200,000 people were evacuated from their homes near Lake Oroville, California, after record rainfall. High water levels and massive runoff damaged the auxiliary spillway that was in place at the Oroville Dam, which prompted officials to issue evacuations downstream. Although evacuation orders have been lifted, there are still many evacuees being served by local churches and shelters because of fears that the dam could still break.
To help families, Convoy of Hope is sending three truckloads of supplies to partners in the area including food, water, cleaning supplies, and hygiene kits. We will continue working with our local partners to assist as many people as possible in the coming days.
